COVID 19 INFORMATION - FALL 2020

Dear LifeLight Youth Theatre Families,

We wanted to reach out and give you an update on our current plan for the 2020 – 2021 school year. As you all are aware, the situation involving our response to the Covid-19 pandemic is ever-changing. Just as school districts, workplaces, and other institutions are formulating a plan for reopening, we too are looking at what will be required to respect the authority of our government and maintain a safe environment for our students and instructors all while continuing our mission for the glory of God.

We have simplified our schedule and had to cancel some classes (our hope is to bring those classes back as soon as we can) and to accommodate our host facility's social distancing guidelines we have made class sizes much smaller.   We have also grouped together the ages and the classes offered to each age group are held in the same classroom, so students no longer have to go from one area of the building to another for a class.  This tightened and simplified schedule has eliminated the need to wait for an upcoming class in the building.  We had to do this to be allowed to hold in person classes.    This schedule has eliminated any need for gathering inside before, in between or after classes.   We have also scheduled a cleaning/ passing time between age groups, so that groups do not cluster during entrances and exits.
All students will enter and exit at the exterior door nearest to the classroom for their class(es).  All entrances/ exits will be monitored by teacher and teacher assistant.   At this time, only students and staff may enter the building and classroom.

At this time, we plan to meet in-person on our regularly scheduled dates and times as well as offer virtual online classes for families who would prefer that option.
With those in person classes in mind, we plan to implement the following guidelines:

IN PERSON CLASSES- GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR FAMILIES:

- Parents are advised to check with their students for symptoms of illness before they leave the house, making sure they are not showing any signs of illness (i.e. cough, congestion, elevated temperature, sore throat, headache, chills, etc.). Students exhibiting signs of illness should be kept home.
- We reserve the right to take students temperature at our discretion.
- We would appreciate knowing if anyone in your family has tested positive for COVID-19. You can let LYT know at lifelighttheatre@gmail.com
-  If a family member has been diagnosed with COVID-19, all family members should stay home for 14 days from the diagnosis. If other family members are diagnosed with COVID-19 in that 14-day period, then that timeline extends out from the new diagnosis date.
If you suspect you have COVID-19, or if you have been tested for COVID-19, please stay home until your results come in. If they are negative, you may return to SCCHE/ LifeLight activities. If positive, you need to stay home until your symptoms resolve or for 14 days, whichever is greater.
Students and adults should not come to activities or classes if any sign of illness is present – cough, fever, sniffles, etc.
- Instructors will have plans in place to accommodate the potential increased absences. It is up to each individual instructor to put those plans in place and to communicate those plans with their students and families.
- Parents and instructors should be prepared for the possibility of classes going fully online for a period of time in the case of a mandated shutdown. While we are not planning for that option, we cannot rule it out. If we are required to transition to 100% Zoom instruction for the required time of a mandated shut down. There will be no refunds or credits due to mandated closures as classes will still be given.
- No visitors will be allowed in any class, location, or activity at this point in time. Only students and staff may enter the building and only for the duration of their class time.
- Finally, we encourage you to continue to enforce good hygiene habits at home and away. In addition, if you want your student to have access to hand sanitizer throughout the day, please provide a hand sanitizer product for your student to use. We will not have hand sanitizer available for general use during classes and activities.
- We recognize the possibility of changes in what is mandated by our local governing officials. We will re-evaluate decisions with any new mandates based on the official policy, not on the local news station reports, making sure that the Lord is glorified in our decision.

ACTIVITIES AND CLASSES – what is expected.

Instructors, adult helpers, and parents of students attending classes will not be required to wear masks – it is up to each person to decide whether to wear a mask or not.
Students will not be required to wear masks - it is up to the parents to decide whether or not they want their children in masks.
Students may choose to wear masks or face shields.
Students who become ill will be given a mask to wear and taken to a separate area. Their parents will immediately be contacted by text and/or call and will be expected to pick them up ASAP. Students will remain in this separate area, supervised, until their parents pick them up. The area will be disinfected after they are taken home. If more than one student is ill at the same time, we will do our best to have separate areas for each student.
We will work diligently to ensure high-touch surfaces are cleaned frequently in addition to our regular cleaning schedule, including table surfaces, door handles, etc.
Social distancing is encouraged, and we have reduced class sizes to make this a reality.   Creative ways, including some age-appropriate activities, may be implemented to make the students more aware of the importance and to help them comply with the guidelines. Dance shoes/bags/water bottles will need to be stored in the room near the student. .WE WILL KEEP EXTERIOR DOORS OPEN IN OUR CLASSROOMS TO AID IN AIR CIRCULATION.

Students who drive must leave upon dismissal.
Students who have consecutive performing arts classes will wait in their classroom and socially distance until their next class starts.
Water fountains will be closed so please send a water bottle with your child.
The Café and other waiting room areas are closed at this time.
Drop off and pick up students at the classroom door- see below Drop Off/ Pick Up Procedures.
Please limit outside hang out time after class and keep watch over your children.  They need to stay out of the landscaped areas, do not climb the trees and cannot play in the parking lot as it is very busy. Our area has many local playgrounds to gather with friends after class.
